Dear Animal Advocate,

It's been a busy year so far in our efforts to protect animals!

We focus on having positive, constructive solutions to alleviate animal suffering. One of our successes this year was our Second Annual Chili Cook-Off, held on February 26 at the Seward Community Cafe in Minneapolis. We had eight contestants compete with their vegan chili. Here's some of the feedback we received from people who attended the cook-off:

  • "Thanks so much for this event. Super-awesome!"
  • "Thanks for having us. This is a great event and cafe... We will be back!"
  • "Great experience. Good food!"

There were complaints, too: there was barely enough room to fit everybody who came, and we ran out of cornbread because of the incredible response!

I saw a couple dozen of familiar faces, but I also saw dozens more people who are interested in plant-based foods and diets. I'm excited that we have the momentum to pull off amazing events like this that help people try new animal-free foods and meet other people who care about animals.

Compassionate Action for Animals has had the following successes:
  • We've hosted three cooking classes, empowering people to make plant-based foods.
  • We've shared vegan foods at three potlucks.
  • We hosted three Vegan After Darks and six dineouts.
  • We leafleted at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, May Day, Twin Cities Pride, and many other places, handing out thousands of leaflets about factory farming and compassionate eating.
  • We hosted the Mercy for Animals' Farm to Fridge Tour, showing our partner organization Mercy for Animals' hard-hitting factory farming expose to the public.
  • We've hosted five trainings, on everything from lobbying for animals to vegan nutrition.
  • Following the leadership of Minnesota Voters for Animal Protection, we successfully advocated against the 'Ag Gag' bill that would restrict undercover investigations on factory farms.

...and much more. We couldn't do this without your support. Thank you, as always, for speaking out on behalf of farmed animals. Consider making an additional donation today.

I'm excited to announce that I am CAA's new Executive Director!

I'm sorry that I've fallen behind on keeping you up-to-date on our work. We've been so busy doing the work that we sometimes don't get around to talking about it.

Yours for the Animals,

Unny Nambudiripad
Executive Director
