Sticker Contest!
Compassionate Action for Animals is having a contest! We're looking for creative designs and slogans that will grace a new line of stickers and bumper stickers for our outreach campaign. The designs and slogans should be related to CAA's focus on farm animals and promoting vegetarianism. The deadline for the contest is July 1, so get your brain's right side workin' and send us your ideas. Please send your submissions, as well as any questions or comments you have, to Sarah at sarah@exploreveg.org.
After July 1, there will be a public vote for the winners. The individuals who developed the top three selected slogans and designs will receive prizes, including gift certificates for amazing veg cuisine!
Ready, set, go!
Turkey Slaughterhouse Investigation
Every year over 9 billion chickens and 250 million turkeys are raised on factory farms and killed in our nation's slaughterhouses. Their suffering often goes unseen and their cries unheard - until now.
A new Mercy for Animals undercover investigation takes you behind the closed doors of one of the country's largest poultry slaughterhouses - House of Raeford Farms, Inc. in North Carolina. In January and February of 2007 an MFA investigator worked in the "live-hang" area of the plant (where live birds are snapped into shackles on the slaughter line), secretly filming egregious acts of animal cruelty with a hidden camera.
Learn more about the investigation, watch video footage, and learn how you can help. Details from the investigation and the graphic footage may be uncomfortable to read or watch, but they are still important reminders of how the animals are suffering on a daily basis and how imperative our animal advocacy efforts are.
Recipe: Creamy Potato Salad
This creamy potato salad has the taste of those great potato salads your family used to make (or you wish they did!) for summertime picnics. This makes a delicious side dish for any summer meal.
