Book Club Meeting Tomorrow (Wednesday)
Join CAA's next book club meeting this Wednesday for a discussion of pattrice jones' book, Aftershock: Confronting Trauma in a Violent World: A Guide for Activists and Their Allies.
"Many activists must struggle with 'aftershock,' the physical and emotional reverberations of frightening, horrifying, or otherwise traumatizing experiences endured in the course of their activism...Aftershock explores the culture of trauma that people have created through our violent exploitation of the Earth, other animals, and one another." (Description from Amazon.com)
We will also be holding a special conference call with pattrice jones, so don't miss out on this opportunity.
Anyone is welcome to join in the discussion and hang out, even if you have not read the book! If you would like to RSVP for the book club or have any questions, please contact Suzy at suzy@exploreveg.org.

CAA provides resources for students and community members going vegetarian or vegan
By Rachel Keranen, as published in The Wake
October 1, 2008
"It was a compassionate act in more ways than one-the free food benefited both humans and their four-legged friends on September 18. Compassionate Action for Animals kicked off a busy fall schedule of events by hosting its fifth annual Vegan Food Giveaway on the West Bank Plaza. CAA volunteers handed out Alternative Baking Company cookies, Tofurky sandwiches, Tofutti ice cream, chips with nacho cheese and salsa, dark chocolate, and many other vegan items. It wasn't the healthiest food, Campaign Coordinator Gil Schwartz admits, but it helped to break the stereotype that vegans subsist on salads and vegetables.
...The group behind it all, CAA, celebrates its 10th anniversary as a Twin Cities non-profit organization this year. CAA, commonly thought to be only a University of Minnesota student group, began in 1998. In 2003 the U of M chapter started and has been an active presence on campus ever since."
