New Vegan Cooking Class Series: Sign-Up Today!

Join Compassionate Action for Animals for our special 3-part cooking class series.

  • Thanksgiving Edition (November 19) - See below for a description of our first class!
  • Vegan Baking Made Easy (December 17)
  • Tofu, Tempeh, and Tamari: Cooking with Soy Foods (January 19)


These classes are free (while similar classes can cost up to $50 or more!), but an RSVP with Lauren (gillm036@umn.edu) is required. You are encouraged to sign up for all three classes, but space is limited to 25 attendees per class, so sign-up soon!

Time: Each class is on the third Wednesday of the month from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Location: Van Cleve Recreation Center's Kitchen, 901 15th Ave S, Minneapolis

(Free street parking available)

The Thanksgiving Edition: Cooking Class #1

Wondering what to prepare for our Turkey-Free Thanksgiving? Our guest chef has a few tips to help you keep your feast animal-friendly!

Dunstan Pinlac, a Le Cordon Bleu graduate, has worked under various highly recognized chefs in the Twin Cities! Take a look at our mouth-watering menu:

Brunch Dine-Out at the Triple Rock

Join Compassionate Action for Animals for brunch at Triple Rock Social Club on Saturday, November 22nd. The Triple Rock is a Twin Cities must-try known for their fantastic brunches. They offer a variety of delicious vegan breakfast items such as pancakes, French toast, tofu scrambler, and veggie sausage. Come escape the chilly weather, meet fellow CAA supporters, and enjoy some hearty food!

Fundraising Dinner at The Vegetarian, December 9

Join us at a fundraising dinner at The Vegetarian for CAA's Restaurant Outreach program. It's also a great chance to enjoy a meal with other CAA supporters, and a chance to meet other people interested in animals and veganism.

The Vegetarian is the highest rated restaurant in the Twin Cities at VegGuide.org! The meal itself will be a three course vegan Indian meal served family style. We'll have two appetizers, three entrees, breads, desserts, and each person will get a beverage included with the meal.

We'll also have a few door prizes including books and t-shirts for some lucky attendees.

Time: Tuesday, December 9, at 6:30 p.m.
Location: The Vegetarian, 4022 Central Ave NE, Columbia Heights
Cost: $25 per person.

You must buy a ticket in advance in order to attend. You can buy your ticket online via PayPal.


Annual Twin Cities Turkey-Free Thanksgiving Potluck

It's that time of year. Sweet smells of cranberry jelly, mouth-watering vegan pumpkin pie, and savory Tofurky.

Enjoy delicious vegan food with fun people at Compassionate Action for Animals and EarthSave's Annual Twin Cities Turkey-Free Thanksgiving Potluck. Although some food will be provided, this is a potluck, so be sure to bring a vegan (no animal products) dish/drink that can serve five to eight people!

Prepare yourself for delicious food, a prize-packed raffle, special freebies, fun games, and good music provided by Substance. Mark your calendars and invite all your friends and family!

Time: Sunday, November 23, 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
Location: Matthew's Community Park, 2318 29th Ave. S, Minneapolis

The event will be held indoors at Matthew's Community Park in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis and near the University of Minnesota's West Bank. Matthew's Community Park is close to the 25th and Riverside exit on highway I-94 and you can check out a map at Google Maps.
