Winter Volunteer Opportunities Galore!
Interested in helping the animals and having fun this winter? So are we! The animals in factory farms don't get to relax and celebrate the holidays, which is exactly why we must continue to advocate on their behalf.
Even if you only have a few spare hours per month to help out, let us know by filling out an online volunteer form, emailing us at volunteer@ExploreVeg.org, or calling our office at 612-626-5785.
CAA offers many great volunteer opportunities to help animals and promote vegetarianism. Here are just a few:
- Working with local restaurants to expand their vegan offerings
- Planning a campaign to encourage people to "go veg" for the new year
- Distributing or stocking educational leaflets
- Writing for our Winter 2008 quarterly newsletter
- Designing websites
Check out a full listing for many, many more of our current volunteer opportunities.
However you're able to help, you're bound to find something that matches your interests and skills! You can make a huge difference in the lives of thousands of animals!
Article: Any Way You Slice It, It's Not Turkey
By Beth Carbo, as printed in The Wall Street Journal
November 13, 2008
In this country, anyone can wield the power of the president -- to pardon a Thanksgiving Day turkey.
Vegetarians do it all the time -- skip the bird on the holiday table. But what would a T-Day feast be without the fowl? Enter the faux roast, an option for vegetarians who avoid meat for health or ethical reasons, yet yearn to carve a meaty centerpiece for the sake of nostalgia. For them, there are a number of meatless alternatives. They're readily available at Whole Foods Markets, Trader Joes and other upscale grocers during the holiday season. In the off months, look for them at health-food stores. They're also available over the Internet, but be prepared to pay a premium for cold-pack shipping.
