Dear Friends of the Animals,

It's been another busy and exciting year for Compassionate Action for Animals! In April, we celebrated our 10th anniversary of campaigning on behalf of factory-farmed animals by hosting an elegant banquet. In June, we organized "Their Lives, Our Voices," an animal advocacy conference that brought together 180 animal activists and top speakers from across the nation. Our 5th Annual Vegan Food Showcase and sister event, Veg Week, (held in September and October) were both resounding successes, educating hundreds of people about the cruelties of factory farming and raising awareness about delicious alternatives to animal products. Together, the events inspired 780 people to take the pledge to eat vegetarian or vegan for the week and exposed hundreds more to a wide array of sumptuous vegan treats. Veg Week was jam-packed with events including a special presentation by attorney and author Jim Mason, who spoke to a crowd of over 400 on the implications of our food choices.

In October, we handed out 8,500 leaflets during Outreach for Animals Week, a "leaflet-a-thon" designed to educate the public about farm animals and vegetarianism. And the year was of course crammed full with our regular dine-outs, picnics, book club meetings, and the distribution of thousands of leaflets at various events and colleges across the Midwest, including the Republican National Convention. Our hard work continues to educate thousands more every year on the plight of factory farmed animals, and in turn saves countless animals from suffering.

One national issue worth mentioning is California's overwhelming approval of Proposition 2 this past election cycle, which bans battery cages for egg-laying hens, gestation crates for sows, and veal crates for calves. This tremendous milestone is a testament that public opinion is on our side and is a sign that it's a great time to work that much harder on eliminating animal cruelty.

But the efforts of groups like Compassionate Action for Animals and the overall progress our movement is making wouldn't be possible without the generous aid from supporters like you. Please consider donating to CAA this holiday season. Donating makes a great gift, whether it is straight from your own heart or in honor of someone special! Your tax-deductible donations will be used to fund our mission of reducing and eliminating the suffering of factory-farmed animals.
