Participate in Outreach for Animals Week

Outreach for Animals Week 2009 is an innovative outreach and fundraising event with the goal of educating the public about farm animals and vegetarianism. Volunteers sign up and raise pledges from family and friends. They will then spend three or more hours leafleting-empowering individuals to make informed and compassionate choices that will save countless animals.

Outreach for Animals Week begins with a few kick-off events during September where volunteers can sign up for leafleting time, and set up their fundraising web pages. Each volunteer will have a designated time slot and location at which he or she will be handing out leaflets to passersby at college campuses, concerts, festivals, and other conductive venues. Leafleting at colleges and concerts will happen between Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 18th. Here is our schedule of events:

• Sep 8 and 10 at the CAA office in Coffman (arrive between 5 and 7pm)
• Sep 13 at Common Roots Café 2558 Lyndale Ave. S., MPLS (arrive between 6 and 7pm)
• Sep 20 at Kristine Volovsek's house 615 Snelling Ave N in St. Paul (arrive between 2 and 4pm)

Oct 10-18 College and event leafleting!

City Chicken Care Class by Chicken Run Rescue

Learn about chickens for the fascinating and engaging creatures that they are in their own right.

Introduction to the basics of living with chickens with an emphasis on the practicalities of costs and commitment required and the emotional bond that develops between humans and chicken companions. This workshop will furnish information about providing an enriched environment to meet their instinctive interests, needs, and activities and relevant state and local laws that protect them and their predators.

Preregistration required. A tour of the Chicken Run Rescue will be held from 3:45-5:00. A $20 donation is requested for the tour.

Time: September 27, 2009 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Location: North Regional Public Library, 1315 Lowry Ave. N., Mpls
