Vegan Food Showcase Next Week!

Join CAA on Wednesday, September 23rd for our Sixth Annual Vegan Food Showcase on University of Minnesota's West Bank Plaza! We will be distributing lots of free vegan food at the event to demonstrate to the entire university community just how tasty vegan food really is. Be sure to stop by and try our vegan chocolate, nacho dip, deli-style sandwiches, and more! We are also looking for volunteers to staff this event. You can help beforehand or on the day of the event between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. If you are interested in helping (it's easy and fun!), please email Lauren at gillm0036@umn.edu as soon as possible.

Time: Wednesday, September 23rd from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Location: West Bank Plaza (near the Washington Avenue Bridge)

Veg Week 2009

Whether you're already vegetarian, wanto be, or are just curious about vegetarianism, veganism, and animal advocacy, Veg Week has something to offer you! Join veg lovers and Compassionate Action for Animals for our sixth annual week-long celebration of all that's veg: Veg Week 2009!

Did you know that as many as thirty percent of diners of all ages "want vegetarian meals"? And that twenty percent of college students identify as vegetarian?

Join veg lovers from Tuesday, September 29th to Monday, Oct. 5th, for Veg Week - our annual celebration of all that's veg! The festivities include a presentation by Jonathan Balcombe, a cooking class, a potluck in the park, dine-outs, film showings, a tour of a Minneapolis chicken sanctuary and more!

A big part of Veg Week is the Pledge to be Veg. If you or your friends aren't currently vegetarian or vegan, take our Pledge to be Veg and come have fun! Be sure to come to the September 29th, Jonathan Balcombe kick-off event for your complimentary care pack, loaded with recipes, coupons, snacks, and other goodies.

Participate in Outreach for Animals Week

Outreach for Animals Week 2009 is an innovative outreach and fundraising event with the goal of educating the public about farm animals and vegetarianism. Volunteers sign up and raise pledges from family and friends. They will then spend three or more hours leafleting-empowering individuals to make informed and compassionate choices that will save countless animals.

Outreach for Animals Week begins with a few kick-off events during September where volunteers can sign up for leafleting time, and set up their fundraising web pages. Each volunteer will have a designated time slot and location at which he or she will be handing out leaflets to passersby at college campuses, concerts, festivals, and other conductive venues. Leafleting at colleges and concerts will happen between Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 18th. Our schedule of events:

• Sep 20: Kick-off at Kristine Volovsek's house 615 Snelling Ave N in St. Paul (arrive between 2 and 4 p.m.)
• Oct 10-18: College and event leafleting!
