Bridges of Respect Practice Presentation

Join us to see the new Bridges of Respect presentation, Beyond Violence, this Friday the 29th from 4-5:30pm. Shannon Kimball will be practicing the Beyond Violence presentation and would like your feedback before bringing it into classrooms across the Twin Cities.

See what people like Albert Einstein, Gandhi and Mother Theresa have had to say about violence: how we treat animals influences how we treat each other. Psychologists and the FBI are showing that people who are cruel to animals are more likely to be violent towards people. The opposite is also true. The more we flex our compassionate muscles the stronger they get. Explore how our relationship with animals can either create a more empathetic society or keep us mired in violence.

Attending a practice presentation will allow you to help shape the final presentation as well as, provide a good way to learn about the Bridges of Respect program and humane education.

Leaflet at the MayDay Festival!

CAA will be leafleting at this year's MayDay Festival in south Minneapolis. For those who wish to carpool, we will meet at the 2100 1st Ave S office at 10am. Volunteers will then gather around the meeting point of 25th Ave and Bloomington.

Leafleting will begin at 11:00am, prior to the parade which starts at 1pm. This is the 37th year for the MayDay Festival, and they expect to draw crowds in the tens of thousands. The theme for this year is Uproar!: "A call to be fully present to the uncertainties of these shifting times. In this Year of the Tiger, we stop to inhale the immense beauty of the world we share. We exhale into a thunderous UPROAR! an embrace of multitudes joining together with collective strength for the present and future health of this world."

Time: May 01, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Vegan After Dark at Town Hall Brewery

Join us this month for our Vegan After Dark at Minneapolis's Town Hall Brewery. While the in-house brew is not vegan, Town Hall Brewery has a selection of other beverage options (including half priced bottles of wine with food purchase!) This could be a great opportunity for us to encourage Town Hall Brewery to introduce a few vegan beer options.

If the weather is warm enough, we may just snag a spot on the patio and enjoy the pleasant spring breeze.
