Investigation Exposes Cruelty to Chickens

Mercy for Animals released an investigation last week that shows incredible cruelty towards egg-laying chickens at a Litchfield, Minnesota based Sparboe Foods farm. The footage shows:

  • Hens crowded into wire cages with less space for each bird than a sheet of paper to live her entire miserable life, unable to fully stretch her wings
  • Workers burning off the beaks of young chicks without painkillers
  • Rotted hens, decomposed beyond recognition as birds, left in cages with hens still laying eggs

and many other such abuses. The investigation was covered by 1,500 news outlets in worldwide. Please consider opting out of this cruelty by exploring a plant-based diet.
