In this lively presentation world-renowned animal behaviorist and author Dr. Marc Bekoff will combine his essays and innovativePhoto-Bekoff.jpg research with what is known to scientists about the emotional world of animals. He is sure to amuse attendees with his unique observations of play and friendships among animals ranging from dogs and cats to dolphins and pigs, ultimately challenging the idea that science and the ethical treatment of animals are incompatible.

Bekoff is esteemed for his work in cognitive ethology (the study of
animal minds), behavioral ecology, and animal behavior. He has published
18 books and has been featured on 48 Hours, Animal Planet, and the
Discovery Channel, as well as in Time, and National Geographic. Bekoff
is a professor of biology at the University of Colorado and a co-founder
with Jane Goodall of Ethologists for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
