We are starting our 2007-2008 book club with, The Way We Eat: Why Our Food Choices Matter by Peter Singer & Jim Mason. In their new book, Singer and Mason explore the ethics of eating as they examine the dietary habits of three families and the motivation behind their food choices. The book explores the the treatment of factory farm animals , as well as the environmental and economic impact of food production. Publishers Weekly describes it as “a no-holds-barred treatise on ethical consumption,” and “an important read for those concerned with the long, frightening trip between farm and plate”.
Please RSVP with Suzy at suzy@exploreveg.org if you would like to join the club, get info on monthly meeting dates, and find out where you can buy or loan out the books!
If you are interested in joining the book club, please start reading /The Way We Eat/ at your earliest convenience, as we will be discussing the book at our first meeting. Information below.
