Chicken Run provides domestic fowl--mainly chickens--with temporary shelter and vet care, and locates and screens

adopters in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. These birds are victims of neglect, abuse and abandonment, sometimes used as a source of eggs or intended for slaughter, fighting or ritual sacrifice. Chicken Run is the only urban chicken rescue of its kind!

CRR firmly believe in the power of meeting the birds as individuals to inspire and educate advocates.

There are a variety of treats you can bring for the birds--they really enjoy guests who bring them goodies, and people learn so much from interacting with them that way. Foods you can bring include greens (on the head is best), melon, raisins, grapes, cob corn,  tomatoes, cucumbers, tofu, cooked pasta, whole wheat bread.

Directions:

Chicken Run Rescue is located at 2023 Lowry Ave. N, North Minneapolis, MN 55411, at the SE corner of Lowry and Newton Ave. N.  The house has the only driveway (cobblestonoe) on the block. Park in driveway or on Newton. Lowry and parts of Penn Ave. are closed to traffic due to major construction.

 

From east

  • Take I-94 West past downtown exits, exit at the Washington Broadway Exit
  • left (north) on Washington
  • left (west) on Broadway (1/2 block)
  • Broadway to Penn Ave. N (20+ blocks)
  • right (north) on Penn Ave. N to 30th Ave. N (6 blocks)
  • right (east) on 30th to Newton (2 blocks)
  • left (north) on Newton Ave. N to end of block


From south

  • Take 35W to 94 West past downtown exits
  • exit at the Washington Broadway Exit left (north) on Washington
  • left (west) on Broadway (1/2 block)
  • Broadway to Penn Ave. N (20+ blocks)
  • right (north) on Penn Ave. N to 30th Ave. N (6 blocks)
  • right (east) on 30th to Newton (2 blocks)
  • left (north) on Newton Ave. N to end of block


From west

  • Hwy 100 North to 36th Ave. N (Cub foods on rt.)
  • right on 36th to Hwy 81 (about 2.5 miles) (Rainbow Foods on rt)
  • right on Hwy. 81  which turns into Broadway Ave. just past North Memorial on right) Don't turn at Lowry!
  • Broadway Ave. to Penn Ave. (about 5 or 6 blocks)
  • left (north) on Penn Ave 6 blocks to 30th Ave. N
  • right (east) on 30th to Newton (2 blocks)
  • left (north) on Newton to end of block
