Because fund raising has been going so well, we've been thinking about some new and exciting ways we can expand the scope of our outreach. Food giveaways are a great way to reach out to a new audience. Everyone loves free food. When someone tries the tasty vegan treats we offer, it becomes much easier to talk to them about how they can change their diet to help animals. Historically, we've only been able to do a few food giveaways each year because of the amount of work involves.

One of our most exciting plans for 2010 is to hire a Food Giveaway Coordinator as an intern for the summer. Summer is a great time to do this. Go out to a nearby park any weekend afternoon and there's a huge crowd of people walking, biking, and generally enjoying themselves. We want to be out there too, giving away vegan food and literature on animal cruelty. Having a committed person take charge of these giveaways, along with funding for food and equipment, will let us organize many more food giveaways than we have been able to do in the past. Our plan is to organize at least 6 food giveaways, and give away food to at least 300 people at each one. That's 2,000+ people who will taste some great vegan food and get a leaflet from us alone.
