Outreach For Animals Week 2009
What is Outreach for Animals Week?
Outreach for Animals Week 2009 is an innovative outreach and fund raising event with the goal of educating the public about farm animals and vegetarianism. Volunteers sign up and raise pledges from family and friends. They will then spend three or more hours leafleting--empowering individuals to make informed and compassionate choices that will save countless animals. Here are some common questions (and answers!) about Outreach for Animals Week.
When is Outreach for Animals Week?
Outreach for Animals Week begins with a few kick-off events during September where volunteers can sign up for leafleting time, and set up their fund raising web pages. Each volunteer will have a designated time slot and location at which he or she will be handing out leaflets to passersby at college campuses, concerts, festivals, and other conductive venues. Leafleting at colleges and concerts will happen between Saturday, October 10, and Sunday, October 18th.

Why a leaflet-a-thon?
Leafleting is a great way to reach a large audience of people. It simply involves handing literature to individuals walking past. The literature contains information that they can read on their own time. Many people love animals, but are unaware of the inhumane and horrifying conditions in which animals live. They don't know what they are supporting when they purchase meat, eggs, and dairy products. When given the tools they need to make changes, many will gladly do so.
It has been estimated that for every fifty leaflets that are handed out, one person will make the switch to vegetarianism. Since the average person consumes approximately 2,400 animals in their lifetime, inspiring one person will save hundreds to thousands of animals.
Most change occurs at the grassroots level, and we couldn't do it without the help of volunteers like you, so get started today! You don't need any prior leafleting or outreach experience to help out.
