Bring a few friends, try some samples, and get free recipes and other resources at this informative workshop!
Veg Week 2006 Kick-Off Event:
"Animal Passions & Beastly Virtues: Happy Hounds, Pissy Baboons, and Playful Pigs" with Dr. Marc Bekoff* – In this lively presentation world-renowned animal behaviorist and author Dr. Marc Bekoff will combine his essays and innovative
research with what is known to scientists about the emotional world of animals. He is
sure to amuse attendees with his unique observations of play and
friendships among animals ranging from dogs and cats to dolphins and pigs, ultimately challenging
the idea that science and the ethical treatment of animals are
incompatible.
Bekoff is esteemed for his work in cognitive ethology (the study of
animal minds), behavioral ecology, and animal behavior. He has published
18 books and has been featured on 48 Hours, Animal Planet, and the
Discovery Channel, as well as in Time, and National Geographic. Bekoff
is a professor of biology at the University of Colorado and a co-founder
with Jane Goodall of Ethologists for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
This is a free event, open to the public. It will be followed by an all-vegan catered reception and a chance to interact one-on-one with Bekoff. Veg pledgers, academics, animal lovers, and anyone looking for a relaxing, fun filled evening is invited to the event.

Vegetarian Potluck – What better way to celebrate Veg Week than with
a vegetarian potluck? While some food will be
provided, everyone is
encouraged to bring a vegetarian or vegan dish to share that serves five to eight people. This is a great opportunity to sample dozens of delicious foods, meet cool people from the community, and have fun.
Veg Cooking Demo and Games – Want to learn how to make delicious and simple vegan food? Come watch the Seward Coop deli's very own Kris Krafft and Tom Trogdon, demonstrate how to make mouth-watering vegetarian specialties. All the food will be vegan, easy to make, and, most importantly, absolutely delicious! If you like food, this is not an event to miss!
