Community Tabling Coordinator

Position Description

Tabling is a lot of fun and a great way of reaching out to the public on animal issues and vegetarianism. It is also one of the best ways to attract new volunteers and supporters. The impact tabling can have is powerful, and has been enough to convince many people to go vegetarian or vegan. The Community Tabling Coordinator will oversee CAA's community tabling by securing tabling locations, acquiring materials for displays, and recruiting and managing tabling volunteers.

Objectives and Criteria for Success. Your coordination of our tabling program will...

  • Help to educate the public about animal rights, veg diets, and Compassionate Action for Animals.
  • Give CAA and the issues we represent a positive public presence.
  • Recruit new volunteers, supporters, and event attendees.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Secure locations for tabling and fill out any necessary permits.
  • With assistance from your supervisor, recruit and train volunteers to staff tables.
  • Keep up to date on CAA events that should be advertised at informational tables.
  • Keep up to date on CAA events (potlucks, cooking classes, etc...) that require informational tables.
  • Secure any and all necessary materials for tabling (literature, sign up sheets, tables, signage, tents, pens, etc...)
  • Arrange for transportation of all materials to tabling locations.
  • Communicate with other Tabling Co-Coordinator to ensure that all tabling duties are being fulfilled.
  • Delegate responsibilities to other volunteers when necessary.

Qualifications Desired

  • A strong desire to educate the public about CAA's work.
  • Well-organized, detail oriented, creative and resourceful, with strong problem solving skills.
  • Approachability: The Tabling Coordinators should be friendly and outgoing, have strong communication skills, and be able to interact positively with a wide variety of people.
  • General knowledge about animal rights issues and vegetarian and vegan diets.
  • Prior knowledge of or an eagerness to learn about CAA's history, mission and core values, strategies, approach and style of communications.
  • Mature judgment and ability to cope with problems that may arise in a polite and respectful fashion.
  • Previous experience with public communications is helpful, but not required.

Time Commitment and Evaluation

  • This position lasts six months and may be renewed.
  • This position is for 2-3 hours/week. Two of these hours must be spent working from one of our offices (this may be negotiable). Additional time is at your discretion.
  • You performance review will occur three months from your starting date.
  • Your supervisor will be Executive Director, Unny Nambudiripad.
