Leafleting Coordinator

Position Description

You might be surprised to learn that the simple approach of distributing leaflets about factory farming and vegetarianism is one of the most effective forms of animal activism in terms of time spent, resources used, and results. Rather than feeling pressure or judgment, recipients of leaflets can review the information on their own time and draw their own conclusions. This results in a true and sustainable change. The Leafleting Coordinator will oversee all of CAA's leafleting programs by securing leafleting locations, acquiring materials for leafleting, and recruiting and managing leafleting volunteers.

Objectives and Criteria for Success: Your coordination of our leafleting program will...

  • Efficiently provide literature about factory farming and vegetarianism to large numbers of people.
  • Make literature about factory farming and vegetarianism available at local events that are attended by our target demographic - young adults.
  • Provide volunteers with the opportunity to make a big difference for animals in a short amount of time.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating and participating in two leafleting events per month
  • Securing locations for leafleting.
  • Communicating with venues about regulations, event ending times, best spots to leaflet, etc...
  • Keeping a supply of leaflets at the CAA office and ordering more when necessary.
  • Arranging for transportation of materials to leafleting locations.
  • Keeping detailed records of the amount and type of literature ordered and distributed.
  • Recruiting and training volunteers to help with leafleting.

Qualifications

  • A strong desire to educate the public about animal rights.
  • Friendly and outgoing, strong communication skills, and the ability to interact positively with a wide variety of people.
  • Well organized, detail oriented, creative an resourceful with strong problem solving skills.
  • Mature judgment and the ability to cope with problems that may arise in a polite and respectful fashion.

Time Commitment and Evaluation

  • This position lasts six months and may be renewed.
  • This position is for 12 hours/month. Additional time is at your discretion.
  • You performance review will occur three months from your starting date.
  • Your supervisor will be Executive Director, Unny Nambudiripad.
