Literature Distribution Co-Coordinator
Position Description
- You might be surprised to learn that the simple approach of distributing literature about factory farming and vegetarianism is one of the most effective forms of animal activism in terms of time spent, use of resources, and results. Rather than feeling pressure or judgment, potential recipients can review the information on their own time and draw their own conclusions. This results in a true and sustainable change. The Literature Distribution Co-Coordinator will oversee all of CAA's literature distribution programs by securing distribution locations, acquiring materials for distribution, and recruiting and managing literature distribution volunteers.
Objectives and Criteria for Success: Your coordination of our literature distribution program will...
- Make literature about factory farming and vegetarianism readily available in neighborhoods throughout the Twin Cities and surrounding areas.
- Improve the efficiency of CAA's physical event advertising such as postering and distributing event flyers.
- Provide volunteers with an opportunity to make a big difference for animals in a short amount of time.
Responsibilities
- Communicating with the other Literature Distribution Co-Coordinator to divide responsibilities and ensure that all duties are being fulfilled.
- Scouting and securing locations for distribution.
- Communicating with business and property owners about distributing literature on their property.
- Recruiting and training volunteers to help distribute literature and do their own scouting and securing of locations for distribution.
- Making literature readily available to all program volunteers.
- Keeping a supply of literature in the CAA office and ordering more when necessary.
- Keeping detailed records of the amount and type of literature ordered and distributed.
Qualifications
- A strong desire to educate the public about animal rights.
- The ability to efficiently transport literature around the Twin Cities.
- Strong communication, volunteer management, and leadership skills.
- Well organized, detail oriented, creative and resourceful, with strong problem solving skills.
- Mature judgment and the ability to cope with problems that may arise in a polite and respectful fashion
Time Commitment and Evaluation
- This position lasts six months and may be renewed.
- This position is for 3-5 hours/week. Two of these hours must be spent working from one of our offices (this may be negotiable). Additional time is at your discretion.
- You performance review will occur three months from your starting date.
- Your supervisor will be Executive Director, Unny Nambudiripad.
