Call Ben & Jerry's to Help the Hens!

Ben & Jerry's is an ice cream company well known for their past commitment to social justice. On their website they criticize what they call "giant, industrial farming operations," and end one of their commercials with the tag line, "Ben & Jerry's: Join our fight for small family farms."

However, after nearly a year of promises to the Humane Society of the United States that they would phase out use of battery-cage eggs in their ice cream, the company has done an about-face and chosen to continue to buy eggs - around 20 million to 30 million of them a year - from huge factory farms that confine egg-laying hens in tiny battery cages so small the birds can't even spread their wings.

Please call Ben & Jerry's today at 802-846-1500 (between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. EST) and politely urge the company to keep their promises to stop supporting battery cage cruelty. You can learn more about the issue and read talking points here. After making a call, take another moment to send them an email expressing your views.
