Give the Gift of Compassion
Dear Friend of the Animals,
For many, the holiday season can be surprisingly stressful, and I
know that I, for one, have become disillusioned with the shopping-rush
that accompanies it. Wouldn’t it be nice to give something more
meaningful than a new DVD or sweater––something that makes a difference
in the world?
At Compassionate Action for Animals, we are striving year-round to
give the gift of compassion, and I am convinced that the work we are
doing is making a difference for the animals in our world. I know
that my friends and family members care about making a difference as
well, and that’s why, this holiday season, I’m making a donation to
Compassionate Action for Animals in their name.
Do you have friends or family members who have a passion for social
justice? Love animals? Are interested in vegetarianism or veganism? To
join me in giving the gift of compassion this holiday season, simply
(make a
donation) of any amount in the name of a family member, friend, or
loved one. We’ll send them a unique, handmade card telling them about
your gift, as well as our print newsletter, where they can read about
how your gift––and theirs––is making a difference.
Just this past year, Compassionate Action for Animals has made
substantial progress towards its goal of improving the living
conditions for farm animals through advocacy and outreach. We’ve
continued to promote vegetarianism and veganism through leafleting,
airing videos on cable, working with local restaurants, and sending out
our influential Veg Starter Kits. In our on-going campaign against
battery cages, we’ve successfully moved the University of Minnesota and
Hamline University to switch to cage-free eggs. Our Fourth Annual Veg
Week, during which nearly 600 community members and students took our
pledge to eat vegetarian or vegan for the week, was a huge success.
Along with six other empowering events during this week, we were able
to bring in speaker Gene Baur, president and co-founder of Farm
Sanctuary, the number one farm animal sanctuary in the United
States.
By giving a gift this holiday season, you will make it possible
for Compassionate Action for Animals to continue doing all of this
great work. More than anything, the holiday season is about
compassion, and I’d like to ask you to extend that compassion to the
countless animals who are subjected to living conditions that, if
inflicted on cats and dogs, would be grounds for felony charges in all
50 states.
Give the gift of compassion this holiday season, and help make a
difference!
