Despite the sweltering heat, CAA continued its advocacy efforts in full force this past July.

We kicked off the month with a fundraiser yard sale in Uptown that turned people's “junk” into much-needed funds for the animals. CAA made hundreds of dollars at this event, thanks to generous donors and curious shoppers.

As a part of National Ice Cream Day, CAA organized a soy ice cream giveaway at Lake Calhoun in collaboration with Viva! USA. Over 120 people tried a cool, creamy, and cruelty-free treat while looking at information on the modern dairy industry. Many of those who tried the soy ice cream were pleasantly surprised, stating that they would purchase some on their next trip to the grocery store. When the giveaway was over, CAA members got a chance to indulge in some delicious vegan food themselves at a dine-out at the acclaimed Mai Village Vietnamese restaurant in St. Paul.

With tons of festivals, parades, and fireworks bringing together swarms of youth, CAA activists were able to distribute thousands of brochures. The Fourth of July fireworks over the Mississippi River provided a wonderful opportunity to advocate independence for animals. Concerts, such as PINK, reached many more concerned individuals and garnered much positive feedback from those affected by the brochures.
