Volunteer of the Month: Becky Lynn Redetzke Field

Becky Lynn Redetzke Field is not only studying anthropology and food systems at the University of Minnesota, but also working hard to alter our current food system.

As an intern with CAA, she has been coordinating this fall's Third Annual Veg Pledge Showcase. Becky is a self-proclaimed vegan foods enthusiast and has been diligently contacting companies for donations for the showcase. The showcase will allow students to try a wide variety of free samples, receive information on animal issues, and take a pledge to try vegetarianism or veganism for a week.

But Becky's interest in promoting vegan foods has roots in her desire to help factory-farmed animals. Food giveaways and other such forms of animal advocacy that CAA promotes are precisely what attracted Becky to the group in the first place: “CAA represents my beliefs in an educational and nonthreatening way. It feels good to break stereotypes surrounding vegan foods and make a positive difference.”
