Warped Tour Leafleting Review
Over the last two weeks, Compassionate Action for Animals volunteers took action in the most important concert leafleting event of the year...
...By distributing over ten thousand “Even if You Like
Meat...” pamphlets to attendees of the Warped Tour. One of the
biggest music festivals around, the Warped Tour is a unique leafleting
opportunity because of its size and demographic. The thousands of
attendees at the festival are primarily younger people, ages 16-25, and
are one of the most likely demographics to be open to making personal
dietary changes on the basis of ethics.
The leafleting started in Minneapolis at the Metrodome at the end of
July. Seven CAA volunteers were on the scene leafleting at different
times throughout the day. After handing leaflets to two women, CAA
volunteer Ben Acaso saw one of the women turn to the other and say,
"This is the pamphlet that changed my life." Many others thanked us for
being out there and handing out the literature, and a total of 6,000
leaflets were distributed.
Just a few days later, Ben and Claire Livingston made a road trip to Milwaukee to hit the tour's next stop. They were joined by two former CAA volunteers who now live in Milwaukee, and together distributed a whopping 4,500 pamphlets! Again, the pamphlets were well-received, and many people were supportive.
CAA will be doing more concert leafleting all year round, as well as college leafleting this fall when the school year starts up.
