Anti-Racism in Animal Advocacy: Reading and Dicussion

Date/Time
Thursday, January 6, 2022
7:00pm - 8:00pm

Author (and CAA co-founder) Unny Nambudiripad will join us to read his essay from the recently published book Anti-Racism in Animal Advocacy: Igniting Cultural Transformation. Tamuno Imbu will then facilitate a group discussion. The event will take place on Zoom.

Please pre-register for the event here.  You can join the event directly here.

In the essay, Unny reflects on his experiences as an activist of color in a white-led, Western-focused animal liberation movement. The critical essay gives insight into the limitations of white-focused spaces through reflections on his Indian roots and their influence on his activist work and emphasizes the importance of funding and supporting activist leaders of the global south.

A crucial read for white activists looking to center antiracism and make space for people of color in their work, his essay and others were created as part of a collaboration between Our Hen HouseEncompass, and Sentient Media.

Signed and discounted copies of the book will be available for purchase. Those who attend can arrange for contactless pick up from our office. We have also purchased a copy of the book for the CAA library and expect to have it available to borrow soon.

We look forward to having you join us!
