12:45pm - 2:00pm
Location
Branch out Transitional Services School
One presentation will be given at Branch Out Transition Program from 1:00pm – 2:00pm. Volunteers will meet with the Bridges coordinator at the front entrance of the school at 12:45pm, about fifteen minutes before the class begins.
We are honored to be invited into classrooms at dozens of local schools. As a volunteer, you’ll get to see the variety of ways we introduce animal protection topics in an average classroom. Presentations offer a lot of inspiring information in a well-established learning environment, and those including vegan food samples make the outreach fun and impactful, as they show how delicious plant-based food can be. Volunteers complete these presentations by helping to prepare and distribute about 30 food samples throughout the presentation. Without a volunteer, we can’t provide food samples in our presentations.
If you have a camera available, please bring it! We would love to get a few good shots of students enjoying their vegan food samples.
For more information or if you would like to volunteer, email Shannon Kimball at [email protected].
The Bridges of Respect Humane Education Program has served the Twin Cities and surrounding area since 1999 by building bridges between people and other species. This program conveys values of responsibility, mercy, and empathy toward animals while encouraging students to become involved in the community. Objectives in the classroom include:
-
- Teaching critical and creative thinking
- Delivering up-to-date, sourced information
- Acting as an ethical role model
- Providing quality resources for students and teachers
Most presentations are requested by middle schools, high schools, and college classrooms or at public events. Presentations are adjusted to fit age groups and to meet specific curricular needs. Learn more about Bridges of Respect here.
