Buffy is a well loved resident of Farmaste Animal Sanctuary in Lindstrom.  Farmaste rescues abused, neglected and unwanted farm animals and brings them to their 30-acre farm. There they are allowed to roam in the pastures, and live out their days free from cruelty.

Buffy is a 5 year old Nubian Cross Goat.  Her most adorable traits are being mischievous and feisty. She is also a caretaker and consoled Eva the sheep the day she got temporarily separated from her herd. 

Her best friends are fellow goats Kristen and Iggy. She most enjoys scratching her head on the brush, playing with herd members, and “bugging” Iggy.

Buffy came to Farmaste on April 25, 2019.  She was found near a live market in St. Paul. A traumatic environment for farmed animals. Given her fighting spirit it is not surprising that she fought for her life and escaped.

We asked Farmaste for some information about Buffy and they shared the following:

Circumstances of the rescue:

Buffy was found less than ½ mile from a live market in St. Paul. Live markets are traumatizing environments for farmed animals; they live in a slaughterhouse – with the sounds and smells of slaughter surrounding them – waiting for their turn to die. Perhaps it is not surprising that Buffy fought for her life and escaped. Knowing Buffy now it doesn’t surprise us one bit, she has a fighting spirit!

After escaping, she spent a few days on the run in an industrial area of South St. Paul. She quickly became a local social media favorite and one of our supporters reached out to let us know about this adorable girl on the loose. With the assistance of the local police department, we were able to safely rescue Buffy the same day we learned about her and bring her to the University of Minnesota for veterinary care. 

Other fun facts

When our sheep Eva first joined her herd there was a day she was outside eating, and couldn’t see where the herd had moved to since she was short. She came inside calling for them, and Buffy ran over to console her until she was reunited with her herd.
