Volunteer at the 8th Annual Vegan Chili Cook-Off!

We are hosting the 8th Annual Vegan Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, February 18, from 7 to 10pm, and we need your help!

Benefits include:

  • Meeting other like-minded animal advocates
  • Contributing to the success of a fun event
  • Introducing people to delicious vegan food

Below are the volunteer positions we need filled. Please read through them and decide which position(s) you’d like to help with.

Additional Cooks for Chili and Cornbread: 7 pm – 24 volunteer cooks total

In addition to volunteers at the event, we are also looking for compassionate folk willing to make chili or cornbread to serve at the event in order to keep up with chili demand. If receipts for supplies are kept, CAA can reimburse these volunteers.

  • 12 volunteers: Each make one large pot of vegan chili (about a gallon) to serve as the “People’s Chili”,
  • 12 volunteers: Each make one pan of vegan cornbread (about 9 x 13 inches)

Event Setup: 5-7pm – 6 volunteers

Prepare the venue for the event including setting up tables and chairs as well as serving stations.

Greeters: 6:45-8:30pm – 2 volunteers

Help with greeting and welcoming attendees, as well as handing out score cards for the chili.

CAA Information Table: 6:45-10pm – 2 volunteers

Hand out veg-friendly material to attendees who are interested in learning more about CAA and animal advocacy. Engage attendees in conversation about these topics.

Donation Takers: 6:45-8:30pm (2) & 8:15-10pm (2) – 4 volunteers total

Use Square to collect donations for CAA.

Food Servers:  8:15-10pm (5)

Serve People’s Chili and cornbread to attendees.

Drink Servers: 6:45-8:30pm (2) & 8:15-10pm (2) – 4 volunteers total

Supervise the beverage station.

Ballot Tallying: 9:00-9:30pm – 8 volunteers

Count ballots to determine the winners of the cook-off.

Farewell Crew 9:00-10:00pm – 2 volunteers

Hand out coupons, invite to visit site and come to upcoming events, veg-friendly material, take square reader donations, supervise giving jars.

Event Take Down: 9:30-10:30 pm – 5 volunteers

Clean and store dishes, clear tables, and help return the room to its former state.


 

The chili cook-off will be held in St. Kate’s student center, Rauenhorst Ballroom, Coeur de Catherine, 2004 Randolph Avenue, in St Paul, Minnesota.
