Volunteer to do Outreach at Aquatennial Torchlight Parade
On Wednesday, July 24, join us to march in the Aquatennial Parade! We need volunteers to carry our banner, wear a costume, and volunteers to march with us and handout invitations to VegFest; we will meet at 6:30pm at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The gathering place will be on 2nd Ave at the wolf statue across from the Convention Center entrance. The parade will begin at 7:30pm and will finish by 9:30pm. Afterward, we’ll go out for food and drink at the Downtown Minneapolis Pizza Luce!

What is Aquatennial Torchlight Parade?
The Minneapolis Aquatennial Torchlight Parade has been a longstanding Aquatennial tradition. As a flagship Aquatennial event, the parade continues to grow. The Torchlight Parade is the largest nighttime parade in Minnesota. Marching in the parade is an excellent way to advocate for animals. We reach many people in a short time and have inspiring conversations along the way.
Volunteering at Aquatennial Torchlight Parade
We need folks to wear our pig costume to draw attention to us in the parade and march with our banner. Others are needed to pass out information about Twin Cities VegFest. Leafleting is an excellent way to advocate for animals and take action to educate our neighbors.
It’s also a great way to get to know other volunteers who are passionate about ending animal suffering, as we will get to socialize afterwards at the Downtown Pizza Luce!
Who can volunteer?
All are welcome to volunteer and no experience is required. If you’re passionate about animal rights and/or welfare, or about helping people move towards plant-based eating, this event is for you. We’ll support you in how to do effective outreach.
How can I sign up to volunteer?
You can view the available positions online and sign up for a volunteer spot!
Support for Volunteers
We’ll reach out to you a few days prior to the event to confirm your participation. At that time we’ll introduce you to the staff leading the event. You’ll get their cell phone number in case anything comes up day-of.
At the event, we’ll make sure you get a chance to know the staff and other volunteers participating in outreach. Then we’ll help you know what to say to attendees and give you spin wheel questions.
Before your shift, after your shift, or during a quiet time in your shift, we’ll have a plant-based snack and a drink for you to enjoy. We’ll also have a first aid kit on hand.
Will I hear from you after volunteering at the event?
Yes! The staff leading the event will reach out to thank you and tell you about the event’s impact. We want you to know about the difference you made as a result of volunteering with us.
