Join CAA to serve vegan dinner at Simpson Housing Services! It’s a wonderful way to care for our Minnesota community in an animal-friendly, eco-friendly, health-conscious way.

The dinner will be at the housing services near the intersection of Lyndale and Nicollet Ave in Minneapolis.

We will gather at 4:30pm to meet and greet one another. Together, we’ll prepare a filling meal in the kitchen, and serve food to residents at 7pm. Once food service comes to a lull, we will take breaks in small shifts to eat the lunch we’ve prepared with residents. Afterwards, we’ll tidy up, and wrap up by 8pm.

Three volunteers prepare grilled cheese sandwiches and soup.
Volunteers Hannah, Nicola, and Brian (L to R) prepare veggie soups and vegan grilled cheese sandwiches.

Other Notes:

  • Please dress comfortably. Wear closed-toe shoes.
  • We will have hair nets on hand. If you’d prefer to wear a baseball cap instead of a hair net, please wear a cap or hat.
  • We expect to serve about 40 residents.
  • Please keep in mind that this is a community service event. While we may explain more about CAA’s work or or veganism if residents ask about it, it is not an outreach event. (We hope to see you soon for more outreach events!)
  • Simpson provides shelter to around seventy unhoused people each night, and partners with community groups to prepare meals for shelter residents. You can read more about the programs at Simpson Housing Services, and where serving meals fits in, at their website here.
  • Special thanks to volunteers Nicola and Jesse for their work in organizing this event.
  • If you have any questions, please email Abbey at info@exploreveg.org.
